Why it's a good time to be a comics fan
Nächsten Monat erreicht der neueste Streich der Pixar-Studios die deutschen Kinos. Die Leute, die mit komplett computeranimiertem Zeichentrick, der nicht auf eine unterhaltsame Story verzichtet, das Erbe der klassischen Disney-Filme angetreten haben, bringen uns diesmal einen Film über Superhelden: Die Unglaublichen. Eine sehr euphorische Rezension, die zugleich kaum etwas vorwegnimmt findet sich bei The Beat. Ein Auszug:
Never fear, it's also a kick-ass comedy adventure, another gem in Pixar's matchless crown of animated triumphs (TOY STORY's 1 & 2, A BUG'S LIFE, MONSTERS INC., FINDING NEMO). At two hours in length it's ungodly long for an animated movie, especially considering the utterly breakneck pacing. Those two hours fly by. Repeated viewings will be necessary to get all the jokes, homages and technical triumphs.
It's also quite probably the greatest superhero movie ever made, even as it deconstructs the very nature of the superhero. As satisfying as Sam Raimi's Spider-Man movies are, when they switch from the vulnerability and humanity of Tobey Maguire in a skintight suit to the CGI Spidey swooping over the city, there's an element of cheating which we accept and yet find a little disappointing. There's no such dividing line in THE INCREDIBLES. Moving far beyond the awkward CGI humans of beloved Andy and sinister Bud in TOY STORY, THE INCREDIBLES creates people who are completely 3-dimensional characters, transcending the knowledge that cartoon characters can never be hurt - these people are in real jeopardy.
Und für das nächste Jahr können wir uns neben Batman Begins und Fantastic Four auch auf Frank Millers Sin City freuen. Aus Anlaß der Verfilmung bringt Dark Horse nächstes Jahr eine Reihe von Sin City-Comics in einer schönen Neuauflage auf den Markt. Die Gelegenheit, um sich schon mal auf den Film einzustimmen.
